Graduate in Philosophy and Educational Sciences, in Political Sciences and Sociology, in Audiovisual Communication. PhD in Political Science and Sociology from the Complutense University of Madrid. 

Professor at the UDC since 2002.

At the University of A Coruña he held different positions, Vice-Dean, Director of the Student Advice and Promotion Service, Dean, Master's Coordinator, Doctorate Coordinator.

He was a guest lecturer and researcher at Binghamton University with Immanuel Wallerstein, at the Collège de France with Pierre Bourdieu, at the London School of Economics and Political Science, at the Centre for the Study of Global Governance in London. 

President of the Galician Sociology Association, President of the Leisure and Tourism Research Group of the Spanish Federation of Sociology.

He has received awards such as the First National Prize for the Completion of Studies and the First Prize for Research in Legal-Social Sciences from the Complutense University of Madrid.

He holds three sexenios and five quinquenios.

He directed multiple research projects and numerous consultancy projects for different companies and institutions. He supervised 7 doctoral theses and 11 Master's theses.

He is the author of numerous research projects which have given rise to numerous books and articles. 

As for his work in the dissemination of scientific knowledge, he is the founder of the journals ROTUR and RELASO.

He has chaired the Scientific Committee of important congresses.

In addition to his academic projects, his work as a transfer of knowledge that generates economic and social value stands out, creating wealth and a great capacity to bring about change in the communities in which he has worked.

He is a member of the Royal Galician Academy of Sciences.
