Alberto Rodríguez Barcón

alberto_rodriguez_barconHe is an international doctor in sociology with a thesis titled: "Cultural production, social change and urban policy: processes of xentrification not the historic center of A Coruña" (cum laude, extraordinary prize). He developed doctoral research stays in cities such as Braga, Porto or Ljubljana.

He is currently working as a researcher at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP) within the 3SRECIPEA project (Smart Shrinkage Solutions - Fostering Resilient Cities in Inner Peripheries of Europe) and as an associate researcher at the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Lisbon (ICS-UL) in the field of the European project ROCK (Regeneration and Optimization of Cultural heritage in creative and Knowledge cities).

His current research focuses on the phenomena of gentrification and urban regeneration, on the study of placemaking and urban culture, and on the analysis of tourism in historic centers.
