María José Andrade Suárez

María Andrade is recognized as a leading academic in the study of the sociology of culture and tourism. She holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from the UDC (Extraordinary Doctorate Award) and a Master's Degree in Planning and Territorial Strategies in Contemporary Society (University of Santiago).

Since 2010 she has been a lecturer in the Department of Sociology at the University of A Coruña. She has also been visiting professor at the Universidade Lusófona de Humanidades e Tecnologías de Lisboa; at the Facultade de Letras da Universidade do Porto; at the Università degli Studi di Roma "La Sapienza"; at the University of California at Berkeley; at the Università della Calabria (Italy) and at the Universidade de Aveiro (Portugal).

She is also a collaborating researcher at the Centre for Studies on Culture, Politics, and Society (CECUPS) at the University of Barcelona.

Her research and publications focus on the sociology of culture and socio-cultural projects, heritage, leisure, and tourism.

She has repeatedly participated in international conferences on these topics and has authored or co-authored more than 50 scientific articles in high-quality journals.

She is actively involved in international academic networks and competitive projects including H2020. She also participates in research projects and elaboration of tourism plans and socio-cultural projects funded by private companies and other institutions.

He is a member of several academic societies, as well as scientific committees of several academic journals. He is a member of the Working Group on Tourism and Leisure of the FES (Spanish Federation of Sociology). He is also a member of the ACCITT Network (Network for the conceptual review on the interaction of tourism and territory of the AEI -Agencia Estatal de Investigación-).
