Twenty years since Prestige: the arts against the oil slick

(November 2022-February 2023)

Twenty years ago, the sinking of the tanker Prestige caused the greatest environmental catastrophe in our country; it gave rise to an unprecedented response and social awareness, in which the world of culture gained great prominence (Nunca Máis movement, Burla Negra platform) and to which Galician poetry was no stranger. This is the theme of this exhibition, organized and set up by the students of the Galician and Portuguese Lingua Poetry Group, coordinated by Professor Isaac Lourido.

Exhibition organized by the Camões Institute, which aims to honor all the authors who, in Portuguese, contribute with their work to create a common place in the Lusophone interculturality project. Posters dedicated to prominent writers in the Portuguese language can be seen in the library, as well as a selection of their work.

Florencio Delgado Gurriarán (Día das Letras Galegas 2022)

The Real Academia Galega decided to dedicate to Florencio Delgado Gurriarán (Córgomo de Valdeorras, 1903 - Fair Oaks, California, 1987) the Día das Letras Galegas in 2022 both for the originality of his poetic production and for his defence and militancy in favour of democratic values in an adverse time (the Civil War and exile in Mexico). 

Travelling back in time : historical novels at the Philology Library

The historical novel is one of the most popular literary genres today. It arose in the 19th century, within the framework of Romanticism and, throughout the 20th century, it adapted to the narrative evolution that the novel underwent. In the exhibition you can see some of these works, organized chronologically from prehistory to the twentieth century.
