Course Overview
This theoretical and practical course aims to provide knowledge and tools that allow us to understand the multidimensionality of gender-based dating violence in order to recognize how to prevent it from childhood and adolescence and acquire practical tools for the application of some of the main effective strategies used in educational contexts.

Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course students should be able to:
• Explain gender-based partner violence from various theoretical and empirical models.
• Recognize the factors associated with the perpetration and victimization of gender-based partner violence.
• Identify various effective psychoeducational programs for the prevention of gender-based partner violence.
• Know the diversity of practical tools for the prevention of gender-based dating violence and how to apply them effectively.

Course Content
1. Gender based violence: Concept and explanatory models.
2. Explanatory factors of gender-based partner violence.
3. Programs for the prevention of gender based violence.
4. Keys for the prevention of violence from the evolutionary development of gender.
5. Practical psychoeducational tools for the prevention of gender-based partner violence.

Instructional Method
The course will use the following materials:
• Reading of scientific articles specialized in gender based violence.
• Participant observation of the socio-cultural environment of those attending the course to contrast the contents of the course with daily practices around gender-based partner violence.
• Review of psychoeducational audiovisual material around the subject.
• Group practice exercises of psychoeducational tools for prevention supervised by the course tutor.

Required Course Materials
Readings available in academic bases of the University such as: AcademicSearch, Scopus, ScienceDirect, Proquest, among others.
Internet access for video consultation and other available tools.

Assessment

The course assesment will be carried out through exercises around each content learned as follows:

1. Gender based violence: Concept and explanatory models.
Concept map of synthesis about revised explanatory models (Individual activity)
2. Explanatory factors of gender-based partner violence.
Development and socialization of field diary for the identification of explanatory factors in everyday contexts (Individual activity)
3. Programs for the prevention of gender based violence.
Summary table of characteristics, advantages and disadvantages of revised programs (Group activity)
4. Keys for the prevention of violence from the evolutionary development of gender.
Selection of video found online that illustrates some of the characteristics of the gender evolutionary development (Individual activity).
5. Practical psychoeducational tools for the prevention of gender-based partner violence.
Group presentation in classes of the application of some of the tools seen during the course.
