Aoileann Lyons is a university lecturer, translator and sometime editor.

Born in Co. Cork (Ireland), she has spent the past 20 years living and working in Galicia. She holds a joint honours BA in History and Hispanic Studies from University College Cork (Ireland) and a PhD from the same university for the thesis Imagining Galicia, a comparative analysis of the work of W B Yeats and the anthology Queixumes dos pinos by Galician poet Eduardo Pondal, exploring the transcolonial construction of national identity through literature. As a translator, she has collaborated extensively with universities all over Spain and the University of A Coruña Publications Service on projects ranging from academic articles and artistic publications to websites and administrative documents.

During a brief return to Ireland in 2010-2012, she was responsible for coordinating the Irish Arts Council-funded Eurochild international child arts and poetry project and editing the project anthology of the same name at Bradshaw Books.

Since her return to Galicia, she has alternated teaching posts at the Universities of A Coruña and Vigo, and is now based back in A Coruña.

Her current research is focused on new Irish literature and issues related to identity, translation, marginality, postcolonialism, transculturalism and social ecology.
