Dr Stephan HOUGHTON has been teaching English in higher education since 2005. Following his PhD at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland (1992), he completed two post-doctoral research positions before becoming a technical manager for a Research Council in 1998. He then completed an MSc at Imperial College London, UK (2001) before working for Goldman Sachs International, London.
Following his move to France in 2005, he started teaching English at the University of Clermont-Auvergne, France. From 2014 to 2022, he taught at the University of Reunion Island, France. He now teaches at the University of French Guiana. His main teaching
interests are in English for academic purposes, scientific and technical English, and student mobility. Having taught at the International Summer School, A Coruña, in 2018, 2019 and 2022, he has also offered courses at partner institutions in the Czech Republic (Charles University, Prague) and the Republic of Moldova (Alecu Russo Balti State University, Balti).
