As a consequence of the latter, this region exhibits abundant variscan plutonism, related to
the high rates of partial melt in the core of the metamorphic domes (López-Plaza & Gonzalo,
1993; López-Plaza & López-Moro, 2004). Most granitoids were affected by late-C3 shearing
during the late Variscan NNE-SSW compression, related with the tightening of the Central
Iberian and the Iberia-Armorican arcs during the late Carboniferous (Gutiérrez-Alonso
et al.
,
2008; Gutiérrez-Alonso
et al.
, 2010a; Martínez Catalán, 2011a).
