The AGRUPA programme is an initiative of the Vice-Rectorate of Research and Transfer of the UDC – through the Centre Coordination Office (REDCIDi) – to strengthen and consolidate the R&D capabilities of its groups, units and Research Personnel.

It provides resources financed both by its own funds and from external sources obtained by the UDC for the definition and implementation of improvement itinerary in priority areas for the development of its research activity, through two lines:

Research groups, units or individuals will receive technical assistance to define strengthening and consolidation objectives and to develop an improvement itinerary.

The last one, which will be monitored annually, will include actions focused on:

  • Addressing changes in the organization and dynamization of the activity.
  • Strengthening research and transfer capabilities, the financing strategy or international projection.

These measures may refer to the following aspects:

  • Definition of the organizational structure of the group or unit: aggregation or reorganization of capabilities.
  • Strengthening leadership.
  • Search for synergies with other groups, units or researchers.
  • Improving internal cohesion and collaboration.
  • Reorienting the strategic focus of research.
  • Reformulating the sectoral and social areas of research protection.
  • Improving scientific production for greater impact.
  • Strengthening valorisation and transfer activities.
  • Promoting open science.
  • Promoting internationalisation.
  • Obtaining resources from public and private sources.
  • Implementing control and management systems.

The AGRUPA programme also provides for the granting of basic funding to promote or consolidate the research and transfer activities of groups, units and individual research staff. This line of support of the programme is implemented through a competitive call for applications to which beneficiaries of the advisory service must apply.

In addition, other actions will be established to finance specifically:

  • The preparation of an action plan to achieve improvement objectives.
  • Advice from external consultants to address improvement actions.

The coordinators of the groups and units and the researchers who receive internal basic funding must prepare an annual report to inform about the use of these resources and their impact on their activity. The review of this report by the Vice-Rectorate of Research and Transfer may entail the review of the conditions of technical and economic support of the programme in subsequent years.
