The Censo do patrimonio marítimo inmoble de Galicia (Census of the immovable maritime heritage of Galicia) focuses on nearly 1,500 heritage elements belonging to the categories of architectural, ethnological, and industrial maritime heritage, as these are the ones most closely linked to the traditional trades of the sea–industry chain, due to their landscape and cultural significance, or because they incorporate the sea as a structuring element of their spatial and functional configuration.

This initiative documents a total of 1,452 heritage elements, of which 919 are previously undocumented, resulting from an exhaustive process of analysis, cataloguing, and rigorous research carried out by the PCUMA technical team, composed of seven professionals, and endorsed by the project’s Scientific Committee, made up of seven experts of recognised prestige in fields directly related to Galicia’s maritime and cultural heritage.

Maritime military and archaeological heritage, which comprises around 500 additional heritage elements according to the PBA (Basic Autonomous Plan), is planned for a later phase of the project, allowing for a more comprehensive and integrated view of Galicia’s immovable maritime heritage as a whole.

Overall, the Census is estimated to encompass around 2,000 assets linked to Galician maritime culture, establishing an unprecedented documentary basis for their knowledge, study, and conservation.
