The current collapse of the frontiers, the social problems arisen from the political de-structurization of Eastern Europe and the economic globalisation force us to rethink social policies nowadays. This project has been motivated by a relative lack of knowledge that Europe has of itself about the aforementioned questions and has three main objectives:

Objetives:

  • To identify social-health alterations, provoked by great economical transformations and their consequences, creating a new theoretical background which will function as a support for the reforms of public welfare and social solidarity systems
  • To identify past and present differences and similarities between health and public welfare policies within the different european countries
  • To highlight the educational interest of the themes such as population, health, poverty, integration and social exclusion, welfare politics, as relevant subjects within the European dimension of education

Expected outputs:

  • The creation of school tools to be used in the educational systems from the different European countries, on the social welfare subject, from a comparative perspective in a spatial and temporary level
  • The consecution of the needed requirements, both in terms of contacts, teaching and institutional agreements, to produce an Intensive Course which will serve as the core for the future European Master's Programme on Welfare, Health and Society
  • The publication of thematic works, both printed and in electronic formats
