Galician Calls

There are calls in Galicia that allow researchers, regardless of their nationality, to develop their projects in institutions such as the University of A Coruña. Through the Galician Innovation Agency (GAIN) of the Xunta de Galicia, there are several calls and unique programmes with the aim of attracting outstanding researcher talent. From the OCPI, we offer you specialised advice, we will solve your doubts and we will accompany you in the preparation of your application.

The OCPI will help you to prepare your proposal for the following calls:

Post-doctoral support grants

This is an aid programme for the hiring of PhDs, aimed at the acquisition and improvement of the skills of PhD researcher personnel through a placement abroad of between 20 and 24 months, as well as for the creation of their own lines of research and the promotion of their employment stabilisation in a Galician university. The total duration of the grant is a maximum of 6 years and is aimed at researchers with a postdoctoral experience of no more than 5 years.

Projects for researchers with an excellent track record

Within the call for Consolidation and Structuring of Research Units of the GAIN, there is a modality C aimed at funding projects of excellence. The objective is to support researchers who, with an excellent consolidated career, need to consolidate a line of work based on high-impact projects. The grants have a duration of 4 or 5 years. It is necessary to be a beneficiary of an ERC Starting Grant or a Ramón y Cajal grant to be eligible for this call.

Oportunius Programme

The Oportunius Programme offers opportunities to develop a scientific career of excellence in Galicia, complementing the grants of the European Research Council (ERC) and reinforcing the options for accessing them.

The ultimate goal is to facilitate the stability of the best Galician researchers and to attract other excellent scientists from outside Galicia.

The programme offers a tailor-made itinerary for three profiles:

  • ERC Winners: Package of grants complementary to European funding, with the option of a contract as distinguished researcher staff and economic resources to support their research activity.
  • ERC Finalists: Financial support and training, consultancy and proposal review services to increase the chances of success in future ERC calls.
  • ERC Candidates: Training and expert advice to high-potential, career-promising researchers to enable them to participate in ERC calls.
