There are calls in Galicia that allow researchers, regardless of their nationality, to develop their projects in institutions such as the University of A Coruña. Through the Galician Innovation Agency (GAIN) of the Xunta de Galicia, there are several calls and unique programmes with the aim of attracting outstanding researcher talent. This is an aid programme for the hiring of PhDs, aimed at the acquisition and improvement of the skills of PhD researcher personnel through a placement abroad of between 20 and 24 months, as well as for the creation of their own lines of research and the promotion of their employment stabilisation in a Galician university. The total duration of the grant is a maximum of 6 years and is aimed at researchers with a postdoctoral experience of no more than 5 years.

Within the call for Consolidation and Structuring of Research Units of the GAIN, there is a modality C aimed at funding projects of excellence. The objective is to support researchers who, with an excellent consolidated career, need to consolidate a line of work based on high-impact projects. The grants have a duration of 4 or 5 years. It is necessary to be a beneficiary of an ERC Starting Grant or a Ramón y Cajal grant to be eligible for this call.
