
This working group was born in November 2009 as result of the concerns of a group of professors from Faculty of Sport Sciences and Physical Education at Universidade da Coruña and Universidade de Vigo. It consists on a multidisciplinary forum aimed at the training, research and dissemination of gender studies. It forms part of the Rede Xénero e Deporte and of the International Association of Physical Education and Sport for Girls and Women.
Objectives:
- Contributing to the construction of a non-androcentric, plural, and democratic knowledge in the Physical Education and Sport Sciences field.
- Promoting, developing, coordinating, and disseminating the studies and research about gender, physical activity, and sports topics.
- Organising events, lecture series, panel discussions and colloquiums about gender and sports practice topics, which contribute to upgrade the professional excellence.
- Fostering the gender perspective inclusion in Physical Activity and Sports Studies, understanding equality of opportunities as a human right.
- Enhancing the contact and collaboration with different international, academic, sports organisms and institutions, both public and private, in order to enlarge learning, teachers and researchers exchange and to promote common projects.
