The advent of ChatGPT has revolutionised the field of professional writing, leading to increased productivity, improved work quality, and the successful completion of tasks and projects within specified timelines. The applications of ChatGPT to professional writing allow individuals responsible for generating extensive written material to save time and effort and stimulate creativity by providing ideas and suggestions. The aim of the course is to help students gain familiarity with the use of ChatGPT and explore the realm of professional text production by using artificial intelligence.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, students will be able to know and master the basic strategies for using artificial intelligence in professional text production. Namely, they will be able to:

  • apply different prompting techniques, in order to create well-structured prompts to get the best possible response
  • use artificial intelligence to write effective professional texts of different types, such as product descriptions, emails, newsletters, argumentative letters, press releases

tailor professional texts according to language, style, audience and tone of voice

Instructional Method

Classes will have a workshop approach and students will be required active participation.

Classes will consist of:

  • interactive lectures
  • individual writing activities
  • discussion of the texts written in the classroom.

During the course, each student will be given three written assignments, which will be evaluated.

Required Course Materials

For this course a computer room with internet access will be needed (ideally with one PC for each student). Students will be provided with teaching materials (Power Point presentations, texts).

Assessment

During the course, students will be given three written assignments, which will be graded. The average of the marks of the three assignments will count as the final grade.
