Period: Annual
Duration: 700 hours
Timetable: Mondays to Fridays, 9.30 AM-14.30 PM.
This face-to-face Spanish course is designed for Asian students who wish to begin studying or learning Spanish during their stay in our country. It corresponds to different levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) of the Council of Europe. It It is intended to promote the significant development of the different linguistic skills (listening and reading comprehension, oral and written expression), combined with lexical and grammatical content to meet the communicative and academic needs of the students.
Teaching will be implemented through theoretical and practical classes that will allow the creation of a teaching-learning process adapted to students’ real needs within an immersion context, based on an action-oriented approach. Activities and tasks selected for this course will allow students to observe linguistic issues and recognise grammar rules and communicative functions acting in them. These activities will be combined with controlled and semi-controlled tasks to internalize language structures and functions. Other activities will consist in individual and/or group oral presentations, debates, drama, simulations and role-plays, which will allow them to improve pronunciation and encourage fluency in oral expression.
Activities carried out inside and outside the classroom will be based on practising different skills: productive (oral and written expression), receptive (oral and written comprehension and interpretation of non-verbal codes), and those based on interaction and mediation. In addition, reflecting on Spanish grammar and linguistic uses, together with intercultural and sociocultural aspects, will constitute a fundamental part of the course content.
Cultural trips, guided visits and practical activities in groups will be also part of the course so as to stimulate sutdents’ interaction with native speakers and improve fluency in oral communication, as well as encouraging peer support for common learning and strengthening self-confidence in the ability to express oneself. Finally, autonomous learning will be promoted according to the needs and objectives of the different activities.
