How is the process to apply for a ISS course?

Please enter on http://www.udc.es/iss/courses/Registration_fees/index.html and click on APPLICATION FORM . You will have to register on the right hand side of the page. Soon after, you will receive an email to activate your account from where you will have to create your own password. After that , you will be able to log in and fill in your online application form.

Remember after selecting a course, click on confirm the course to save it. After submitting your application you will be able to print it or see it as many times you want by loging in.

You cannot find your home country in the dropdown menu in the Educational Background section? Please send us an email to iss@udc.es asking for adding your home university to the list.

What should I upload on the field "Records" in the Educational Backrgrount section? You should upload your transcript of records and / or any certificate related to your studies.

Please take into account that some emails from us go to the spam or junk box, so check these boxes too.

What is the deadline for applying to the ISS?

The deadline will be on 30th June.

Applicants are encouraged to apply as early as possible. In addition to being able to secure a place in your preferred course, there is an early-bird price that also encourages you to apply early.

If you require a visa, we advise you to apply at least one month before the ISS application deadline.

Is there an exam at the end of the course?

Yes. Every course must have a final exam.

When will the final exam take place?

Final exams take place on the last day of each session and participants cannot expect to be finished in time to meet flights on that day. This should be taken into account when booking return flights.

Do I have to take the exams? Will I still get a certificate if I don't?

Examinations are not compulsory. Students who attend at least 80% of the classes will be able to sit the final exam. Those who attend but do not sit the final exam will receive an Attendance Certificate. Students must note that an attendance certificate is not the same as a Pass/Fail grade and is unlikely to be able to be used for credit.

What is the grading system?

The grading system is based on the ECTS grading scale defined in the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) framework by the European Commission. Since many grading systems co-exist in Europe and, considering that interpretation of grades varies considerably from one country to another, if not from one institution to another, the ECTS grading scale has been developed to provide a common measure and facilitate the transfer of students and their grades between European higher education institutions, by allowing national and local grading systems to be interchangeable. Grades are reported on a carefully calibrated and uniform A-to-F scale combined with keywords and short qualitative definitions.

Why can't every student get an A?

Because the ECTS grading system reserves the A grade for the 10% best performing students that have passed the test.

How many teaching hours do the courses have?

Each course has 42 teaching hours.

When do I have to pay my fees? Can I pay the optional Spanish language course later?

When you receive your email of acceptance, you will be given 10 days to pay the fees and register for the ISS. If you are unable to pay within this period, you will need to inquire with us again about the availability of places for your course and your fee status. This deadline does not apply to the payment of the optional Spanish language course.

Can I get a refund of the fees I have paid?

If you do not start your course, you will be entitled to a full refund of any tuition fees that you have paid in advance.  UDC will not be responsible for bank charges .

You should fill in these documents and send them to  iss@udc.es.

1) Copy of your proof of payment.

2) Reimbursement application.

3) Anexo VI (please sign it only in the personal data box).

Please notethe student registered must be the bank account holder.

Deadline 27st July 2017.

Refunds can take up to 3 months to process since the documents are received correctly.

How much credit will I receive for an ISS course?

Courses have a value of 6 ECTS credits for Universidade da Coruña students and are equivalent to one course in a UDC degree. Foreign students who wish to receive credit for their course will need to contact either their Study Abroad Office or the office in their university that deals with external credit. It is up to students' home institutions as to how much credit is awarded but we are happy to advise them and if necessary provide them with the course syllabus and exam paper. Generally our courses receive 3 credits in the US system and 6 ECTS credits in the European system.

I am interested in the optional Spanish language course alone. Can I take it without any of the main ISS courses?

No. These optional Spanish language courses can only be offered  as a complement to one of the main ISS courses.

How much credit will I receive for an optional Spanish language course?

Universidade da Coruña does not award credits to its own students for these optional Spanish language courses. Foreign students who wish to receive credit for their optional Spanish language courses will need to contact either their Study Abroad Office or the office in their university that deals with external credit. It is up to students' home institutions as to how much credit is awarded but we are happy to advise them and if necessary provide them with the course syllabus and exam paper. The certificate will state the number of hours of teachig (28) and the level of the course.

Can I take more than one ISS course per session?

No. As courses are intensive and full-time, it is only possible to attend one ISS course per session. This can only be taken together with an optional Spanish language course.

What will my timetable look like?

Typically you will have 3-hours of teaching each day. In addition, you may take an optional 2-hour Spanish language course. It is published on http://www.udc.es/iss/generalinformation/contact/ .

How many people will be in lectures and classes?

Usually there will be around 10-20 per class, though sometimes the number can be slightly higher or lower.

Technical problems?

1.- I have registered on the portal but I have not received the activation email: Please check in your junk or spam folder.

2.- I have problems creating the password: Please make sure that your password has a minimum of 8 characters. It has to  contain at least one digit and one special character ( %,$,?&...)
