Collegiate governing bodies within the departments

The Departmental Council is the Collegiate Governing Body for the Department.
Its duties include, among others:

  • To plan the Department's teaching and research and organise the departmental teaching programme.
  • To organise postgraduate courses and studies within its area.
  • To approve the annual report on the teaching and research carried out by the Department.
  • To approve the distribution and uses of the annual departmental budget.

Individual governing bodies within the

Director of department

The director of the department is the individual governing body of each department, who is also in charge of representing the department. The director calls and presides the Departmental Council, carries out its decisions and ensures that its agreements are put into practice.

He must be one of the professors or permanent lecturers from the department who is elected by the Departmental Council and nominated by the rector. This post holds a three-year mandate, after which the director can stand for re-election.

Secretary of Department

It is the departmental secretary´s duty to draw up the minutes of the sessions of the Departmental Council, to issues the certificates it proposes and to deal with the proposals, and also to look after the files containing the departmental documents.
The departmental secretary will be nominated by the Rector on the proposal of the Director from among the teachers and assistants in the Department.
