The second prize of the Contest Teresa Pinillos has been given to "El lenguaje de las neuronas" , by Casto Rivadulla Fernández, member of Neuroscience and Motor Control Group (NEUROcom).

The aim of these events is to convey the different aspects of scientific knowledge in general, in a simple and entertaining way, as well as presenting different fields of research which are currently being developed in Galicia. These educational performances are offered by two scientists and an actor in bars and cafés across Galicia, the idea being to involve the whole audience to participate in the performance. The happening are on Fridays evening. This activity is financed by Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology, Ministry of Science and Innovation and the Ministry of Economy and Industry, Government of Galicia and organized in collaboration with the University of A Coruña. The persons in charge are Xurxo Mariño and Casto Rivadulla, investigators to NEUROcom, and scientific collaborators: Elena Vázquez, Luís Sampedro, Eduardo Sánchez y Alberto Velando, and the actors : Vicente de Souza y César Goldi. Neuroscience short-cicuits After its first highly successful year, the neuroscience short-circuit events return to schools. This activity is aimed at eight and nine-year-olds. By means of neuroscientific workshops we bring the fascinating and complex nervous system closer to children. These events will be held at schools in the province of Coruña during October, November and December, 2009.
