LIST OF THE MOST SIGNIFICATIVE EVENTS IN THE HISTORY OF THE LABORATORY OF LAXE.



17/12/1900.- Birth of Isidro Parga Pondal

1922
.- University Degree in Chemistry. University of Madrid at the Science Faculty of the University of Santiago de Compostela.

1923/1926
.- Assistant professor in Organic Chemistry and Analysis.

1924.- Enters the Seminary of Galician Studies creating the Section of Geology.

1930.- Alonso Barba Award granted by the Real Spanish Society of Physics and Chemistry.

1932
.- Pensioned by the Association of manufacturers of Cement of Spain to study in the Polithecnical School of Berlin.

1933.- Creation of the Laboratory of Geochemistry of the University of Santiago de Compostela in collaboration with the Seminar of Galician Studies.

1934.- Presentation at the Complutense University of Madrid of his Doctoral Thesis:
"Chemistry of Cainozoic Magmatic Events of the Iberian Peninsula"

1935.- The National Foundation of Tests and Reforms gives support to the Laboratory of Geochemistry of the University of Santiago de Compostela, with grants for the studies of geochemistry. With this the University of Santiago sets up the first Centre for Studies in Geochemistry Investigation of the Spanish University.

1936.- Beginning of the Spanish Civil War . Isidro Parga Pondal is expelled from the University of Santiago de Compostela, because of his Galician national ideas, being Professor Batuecas the responsible for this. He retires to the village of Laxe, where he is named technical director of mine exploitation of the company Caolines de Lage, S.A..

1940.- Foundation of the Geological Laboratory of Laxe located in the Laxe Village.

1945.- The Mines and Geology Institute of Spain ("I.G.M.E.") establishes a new agreement of collaboration with the Geological Laboratory of Laxe, to carry out the Geological Map of Galicia in a scale of 1: 50.000

1953.- Publication of the first work in which there specifically appears the name of the Institution: Works of the Geological Laboratory of Laxe number 1 "About a relation between the types of disjunction of the Galician granites and its geological tectonic history".

1954.- Beginning of the collaboration between the Geological Laboratory of Laxe and the University of Leiden (Holland).From this moment on, other universities take part: Montpellier, Zürich, Liverpool, Münster, Nancy, Strasboug, Lisboa, etc.

1958.-Concession of the award Ramón Mourente created by the Galician emigrants in the Argentine Republic. Ramon Mourente Patronage.

1962.- Designation of Professor Parga Pondal as Assistant Professor ad honorem of the Lucas Mallada Institute (C.S.I.C.).

1965.- Concession of the Award Pedrón de Ouro. Pedrón de Ouro Patronage, Santiago de Compostela.

1972.- Prize of the Investigation Criticism "Excma Diputación Provincial de A Coruña"

1976.- Homage of the Group of Geology of the West in the University of Salamanca.

1978.- Homage of the group of Geology Ossa Morena in the Coimbra University. Award of the Investigation Criticism, Vigo. Homage publication of the book 27 of the S.E.C. of Sargadelos, Geology of the North part of the Iberian Massif.

1978.- Death of José Ramón Parga Peinador, son of Isidro Parga Pondal and first secretary of the Geological Laboratory of Laxe.

1979.- A second stage begins with the change of the documental and bibliographic funds to the Geological Laboratory of Laxe in O Castro, Sada. Designation of J.R.Vidal Romani as secretary of the Geological Laboratory of Laxe. Celebration of an Extraordinary Meeting of Geology of the Peninsular NW.

1980.- Celebration of II Meeting of Geology and Minery of the Peninsular NW.

1981.- Celebration of the III Meeting of Geology and Minery of the NW.

1982.- Castelao Award of Investigation. International University Menendez Pelayo and University of Santiago de Compostela.Celebration of the IV Meeting of Geology and Miner of the Peninsular NW Minerals and Industrial Rocks.

1983.- Designation as Doctor Honoris Causa by the University of Santiago de Compostela.Celebration of the V Meeting of Geology and Minery of the Peninsular NW. Petrology and Structure of the Unities of Cabo Ortegal, Ordenes and Malpica-Tui.
Celebration of the IV Meeting of the Spanish Quaternary Teamwork.

1984.- Celebration of the VI Meeting of Geology and Minery of the Peninsular NW.
