Even if there shouldn’t exist any type of restrictions to the lines of research developed by the Institute, these should be always immersed in the reality of the Galician country. The lines selected in relation to the research tradition of the Geological Laboratory of Laxe and the professional tradition of its members, together with those of the area of Geology are the following: -Investigation of the changes in the fossil faunal communities. -Study of the changes in the sea level in the Galician Coast during the Cenozoic. -Fossil palaeoenvironmental changes based on sedimentological, edaphological, geomorphological and paleontological criteria. -Research for the elaboration of charts of geological risks, geomorphological maps, evolution of the Cenozoic Environment. -Study of environmental impact performed by Public Works and Mines. -Investigation about the conservation of soils oriented towards agriculture or environment. -Evaluation of natural resources: minery, landscape, sites of didactic and scientific interest, sites of geological and paleontological interest.
