He is a Professor of History and Urbanism at the Superior Technical
School of Architecture of La Coruña, and Director of the same from
1989 to 1996.
He was born in Madrid in 1953, where he got his degree from the School
of Architecture in 1979 and his doctorate in 1983, under the guidance of
Professor Chueca Goitia. He worked in various projects and research, receiving
recognition in national architecture competitions in 1980, 1982 and 1989.
He is a member of the Associations of Architecture of Madrid, Galicia and
Asturias, participating in their Board Meetings. He teaches at the university,
has given lectures, courses and seminars on topics of his specialization
at many universities, Spanish and foreign. He has collaborated on principle
Spanish publications on architecture, and has directed journals as Cota
Cero (Oviedo 1985-86) and Boletín Académico (La Coruña
1989-96). Among his most popular works are the books Madrid 1898-1931,
de corte a metrópoli (Madrid, 1985), Introducción a la Historia
de la Arquitectura (La Coruña 1995), Historia General de la Arquitectura
en Asturias (Oviedo, 1996), and La Ciudad Lineal de Madrid (Barcelona,
1998).
