Architectural Composition Professor (Art History) of the Architectural Composition Department of the Superior Technical School of Architecture (S.T.S.A.) of the University of A Coruña.

Studied Architecture at the School of Architecture in Madrid, where he got his degree in 1976, and later got his doctorate from the University of Santiago de Compostela. He has been a member of the faculty of the S.T.S.A. of A Coruña from the first years of its creation, teaching Architectural Drawing and Art History, as well as numerous Doctorate programs and Postgraduate Courses at the University. He has directed doctoral theses on the architecture of Galicia, and has also taught Patrimony Conservation in the Humanities Department of the University of A Coruña. He runs the Senior University.

He co-directed several research projects on keeping inventory and cataloguing the architectural and ethnographical patrimony of the municipal limits of the province of A Coruña, with financial support of the Provincial Delegation of A Coruña and of the Xunta of Galicia.

He is Numerate Academic of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Galicia in Architecture. He is also Corresponding Academic of the Royal Academies of Fine Arts of San Fernando of Madrid and of San Jorge of Catalonia, as well as elected member of the José Cornide Institute of Studies of La Coruña. He has held the offices of  “Vicerrector “ of University Extension (1990-1997), "Vicerrector" of infraestructures and services (1999-2001) and President of the Publications Commission of this University. Presently, he is Assistant to the “Rector” on Infrastructures and director of the "Senior" University between 2001 and 2004.

He works as an Architect, undertaking work of private and public initiative, as well as on restorations and rehabilitations of various Galician monuments.

He was awarded the Communication Award from the Official Association of Architects of Galicia for the publication of a series of articles on Galician architecture in the newspaper Voice of Galicia (Voz de Galicia) during 1993 and 1994. He has an extensive bibliography which includes numerous articles, lectures and seminars on Spanish architecture and in particular, on Galician architecture. He has given several doctorate lessons in spanish and american universities.

Fernando Agrasar Quiroga (Vigo, 1963) is an architect by the University of Corunna Architecture School (1989) and a Doctor by the University of Corunna (2001). He is a teacher in the Composition Department of the University of Corunna Architecture School. He was an Assistant Professor from 1990 to 2003 and, since that year, he is a Lecturer of the area of Architectural Composition.

His research work covers the analysis of contemporary and modern architecture, regarding especially their relations with other creative disciplines and varied cultural manifestations. He develops a critical task, in the media and specialized publications, with the idea of contributing to build a think tank linked to the contemporary architectural creation in Galicia. He directed, together with J. Irisarri the magazine “Obradoiro”, from 2000 to 2006.

Fernando Agrasar mantains his professional activity as an architect, particularly in the design of exhibitions, restoration projects, both in landscape or new buildings, always related to his research activity.

From 1999 to 2007 he was responsible for the Culture Committee of the COAG in Corunna, he has promoted varied cultural activities related to architecture. He frequently participates in architecture exhibitions, as a consultant and/or responsible of the expository design or commissioner, such as:

Originally from Lugo, studied Art History in the Department of Geography and History at the University of Santiago de Compostela, where he graduated with honors in 1985. At present, he is Assistant Professor of the Architectural Composition Department of the Superior Technical School of Architecture of the University of A Coruña.

He has collaborated in the creation and setting up of the Museum of Sacred Art of the Collegiate Church of A Coruña, as well as in keeping inventory and cataloguing the possessions of the museums and artistic fund collections of the Cathedral of Santiago, receiving a scholarship from the Xunta of Galicia. His research has been geared toward the study of the platería (or silverworks) and of popular architecture.

Among his most outstanding publications are:
“Dibujos de platería coruñesa” (1991), “Escultura en plata en la Galicia del siglo XVIII” (1991), “La Real Colegiata de Santa María del Campo de La Coruña” (1989), “Doña María Ana de Neoburgo en Galicia: La arqueta eucarística y el ostensorio de la Colegiata de Santa María del Campo de La Coruña” (1993). He is also the author of “Catálogo del Museo de Arte Sacro de La Coruña”(1993).

As a member of the Research committee in charge of preparing the Architectural Inventory of the Province of A Coruña, with the sponsorship of the Provincial Delegation, he has carried out studies on the popular architecture of the mentioned inventory in Volumes I and II, published in 1995 and 1997.
